There are many great fighters in MMA in all different weight classes, but there has to be a top 10 overall, right? Well, this article will bring forward the top 10 pound for pound fighters in MMA.

1. Anderson Silva – Middleweight (33-4-0) – 6’2’’ 185 lbs
-He is the greatest Mix Martial Artist in history. His latest fight against Stephan Bonnar displayed his superior skills once again and kept his unbeaten streak alive in the UFC. He sits firmly atop the pound for pound rankings and that won’t change until someone defeats him or he retires from mma, whichever comes first. His next fight is at UFC 162 versus Chris Weidman on July 6th.

2. Jon ‘Bones’ Jones – Light Heavyweight (18-1-0)
– 6’4’’ 205 lbs
-Jones is one of the most talented fighters in the UFC. The current light heavyweight champ has almost no weaknesses to his game. The only complaint against him is that a mega-fight against Anderson Silva hasn’t materialized yet. His most recent fight against Chael Sonnen ended in another knockout for Jones.

3. George St. Pierre – Welterweight (24-2-0)
– 5’11’ 170 lbs
-He is one of the greatest fighters to ever compete in the UFC. GSP is a true living legend of the sport. He has been a staple of pound for pound power rankings because of his absolute domination of the welterweight division over the years. Coming off of an injury that sidelined him for almost a year, fans were worried, but GSP looked great against Carlos Condit at UFC 146. He followed that up with another successful title defense against Nick Diaz at UFC 158.

4. Jose Aldo – Featherweight (22-1-0)
– 5’7’’ 145 lbs
-Aldo is the current UFC flyweight champion. He was also the last flyweight Champion in the WEC until it merged together with the UFC. He sports a nearly flawless career record with his only loss coming to Luciano Azevedo back in 2005. Since then, he has rattled off 15 straight wins with a combined 12 of those coming from WEC & UFC fights. In his most recent fight against Frankie Edgar (At UFC 156), he won a 5-round unanimous decision against the challenger.

5. Demetrious Johnson – Flyweight (16-2-1)
– 5’3’’ 125 lbs
-He is the current UFC Flyweight champion. In his last fight, he successfully defended his belt against John Dodson. Nicknamed, Mighty Mouse, Johnson is known for his speed and stamina. He has some of the fastest hands in all of MMA regardless of division. His next title defense will be against John Moraga in July.

6. Cain Velasquez – Heavyweight (11-1-0)
– 6’1’’ 240 lbs
-At 6’1’’ 240 lbs, Velasquez is one of the ‘smaller’ fighters in the heavyweight decision. This only makes it even more impressive that he is the current UFC Heavyweight champion. In his last fight at UFC 155, he beat Junior Dos Santos to not only defend his title belt, but also avenge his only career loss (a first round knockout by JDS at UFC on Fox 1). Next up for Cain is a rematch against Antonio ‘Bigfoot’ Silva.

7. Benson Henderson – Lightweight (19-2-0)
– 5’9’’ 155 lbs
-He is the current UFC lightweight champion. His victories haven’t been the most dominate and his most recent affair against Gilbert Melendez was incredibly close (a Split Decision at UFC on Fox 7). But at the end of the day, a win is a win and his victorious title defense against Melendez made it seven in a row in the UFC for Henderson.

8. Renan Barao – Bantamweight (30-1-0)
– 5’6’’ 135 lbs
-With Dominick Cruz injured, Barao is in the interim champion of the bantamweight division. While he isn’t a household name yet in the USA, this Brazilian phenomenon holds a victory over Urijah ‘The California Kid’ Faber and sports an impressive MMA record of 30-1. His next fight is at UFC 161 against Edie Wineland where Barao looks to defend his interim title.

9. Chris Weidman – Middleweight (9-0-0)
– 6’2’’ 185 lbs
-Weidman is an up and coming star in the UFC. He sports an undefeated professional record of 9-0. He is the No. 2 ranked middleweight and his next fight will be against Anderson ‘The Spider’ Silva for the middleweight championship belt. Hopefully for Weidman, this fight will end differently than Silva’s previous 11 title defenses.

10. Gray Maynard – Lightweight (11-1-1)
– 5’8’’ 155 lbs
-The Bully is one of the best fighters in the UFC and is perpetually at the top of the lightweight division.  His draw and then loss against Frankie Edgar were only a minor setback for Maynard. He bounced back with a victory over Clay Guida and next up for Maynard is a title eliminator fight against TJ Grant. Dana White has already announced that the victor will face lightweight champ, Benson Henderson, in their next bout. With so much on the line, expect the bully to come out with his trademark suffocating fight style and use his superior strength and wrestling to his advantage.
