Fantasy Football: QB Rankings

Once again, Aaron Rodgers tops this years pre-season ranks for quarterbacks in a unanimous vote. Drew Brees and Tom Brady tied for second as Austin Amaral believes the problems surrounding the Saints will affect Brees' performance this year. Peyton Manning returns this year from injury and made it back into the top 10 with the Denver Broncos. Rookie Robert Griffin III is ranked 15 and five spots ahead of Andrew Luck, who was taken first in the year's NFL Draft. The biggest surprise to me was the rather high rank by Amaral on Cam Newton, who Ryan Andre and I believe will be a top 4 QB. But this is just the first rankings of the pre-season and they will be updated and changed multiple times before the start of the season.

Alex Smith at 25??? C'mon now. He can only be better this year. With that said, he was in the top 20 in both Yards and TDs, and rushing TDs. I don't even have to mention his TD/INT ratio. With the addition of either Manningham or Moss, I would have said his TDs and Yards would improve by 15% at least, but with the addition of both, along side Kyle Williams (who would have had a rather nice debut season with the 9ers if it wasn't for the monumental breakdown against the Giants), the freak of nature, Vernon Davis, and Crabtree (who I think could have a solid year playing in the shadows of all three), I really wouldn't be surprised if he became a bottom of the pack QB1 in our league. More will be said in my upcoming piece, but I would plop Smith at least 5 spots higher than his overall rank. with my slight bias supercharging my predictions I would bet he finishes in the top 17 for QBs fantasy wise. I think Alex's statement here says everything, "It's like waking up on Christmas," Smith said. "You have a lot of new toys out there, new presents."

Other notes:
-What's the point of showing the overall rankings if you don't order the players names with those rankings. Kind of confusing. I think that's how the other sites do it.
-Layoff the rookie QB's jocks. Alex smith will be better than both ahead of him.
